Thoughts, re thoughts: Gandhiji and Conversion

I was reading Gandhijis thoughts on religion and conversion. Surprised by his commitment to truth.

As he righly said, only one who does not know about any religion will obey the foolish act of conversion. One who is open to read atleast one text whole heartedy will clearly understand that all other texts are various forms of it and will understand the nothingness of conversion.

But, I do not really subscribe his practices on induced self control. Self should unknowingly drop its interests in momentary pleasures with out any explicit ask for it.I feel, that will come unknowingly when we gets acknowledged that we truely do not know what we are, why we are, where we are heading.. though we build lots of hypothysis over it….
